Julie Painter, MA, LPC

Hello! I have a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.

My Why.

As you consider starting therapy or perhaps changing therapists, it may be helpful for you to know the reason I have chosen this profession. My mission is to be an agent of hope and change through mental health counseling.

For many years, I felt the need for change personally, within my close circles, community, and systemically. There were a lot of questions and pain with few answers and little hope. I felt motivated but stuck – unable to make effective changes in myself and others.

Pursuing a career in mental health counseling has given me the tools to grow personally and empowered me with the skills to help others. My goal and passion are to help you experience that hope and change.

Education and Experience

I hold a master’s degree in counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary and a Certificate in Advanced Professional Counseling from Missio Seminary. As I secured my professional licensure as a Licensed Clinical Counselor in Pennsylvania, I have built a broad base of experience with individuals from all backgrounds.

My ten years of professional experience extends from educational settings and community-based therapy to outpatient therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families. My experience covers various issues, from sexual abuse to grief; from blended families to post-adoption; and other issues too numerous to mention.

How I can help

I draw on my education, lived experience, and training to use an eclectic approach from several evidence-based models to help you determine and reach your goals. Pulling from your unique strengths, we will explore and utilize new tools.

Change can happen in small and surprising ways. It is an honor for me to know your story, pain, and struggle. It is a joy for me to celebrate the good alongside you. Together, we can explore how to move forward toward your goals.

In My Free Time…

You can find me with my husband and rascals (I mean, kids!) outside throwing a ball, hiking a trail, or playing by the water. Spontaneous dance parties are also a Painter family favorite. I enjoy reading for professional growth and fun. While I value family time, I also support the community around me, both professionally and through volunteering.
